Many of the shops offer WSS students discounts - a bonus when money is tight! - and there is almost always a sale going on somewhere, with up to 50% of the prices off goods. Beware of shopping at the beginning of January if you're hoping to just quietly browse: the now-legendary January Sales of shops both big and small means that even getting from the front door to the tills takes half an hour. Oxford city centre is also extremely crowded at the weekends: if you want to avoid the crush, make sure you choose to shop on a weekday, if possible.
