Once the largest city in the world and still the largest in Europe, London is a huge multi-cultural centre, a place of endless possibilities! As capital of England, London is inextricably linked to the history of this country.  When the Romans conquered England in 43 AD they settled around the winding River Thames, and since then the city has endured Saxon and Norman invasions, the Black Death of the bubonic plague and the Great Fire of 1666.  Today it remains the centre of British rule, home to the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
