Student Accommodation |
Brighton is a city in demand, so it is useful to keep up with the housing market if you are thinking of moving here. The local Argus newspaper is the first stop in finding accommodation to rent or buy, and the local council are very helpful in providing details of the area's estate agents and other useful information.
Students tend to live in quite central locations like Hanover, Lewes Road or Elm Grove. Brighton is an expensive place to live, and the cost of a room in a shared house will be around £60-75 a week, not necessarily including bills. There are, however, plenty of places to choose from and an active housing market, so if you grow unhappy with your accommodation it will not be difficult to move on later.
Remember, as with anywhere else in the UK, if you are moving here from abroad landlords require that you have a UK resident to act as a guarantor if you wish to rent property, so you must make sure you know somebody who already lives in the UK before you find somewhere to stay. Your UK University/College/School may also be able to help, so make sure to ask there as well.
