One of the first things you'll notice about Brighton is that there is a lot of public art even the bicycle racks are artistic! A sea front redevelopment scheme involved the creation of a number of artistic works, including the "Kiss Wall" which was short-listed for an Arts Council prize. Brighton also has a fine selection of galleries and museums, both mainline and commercial.
Brighton Dome puts on musical events of all kinds, but also offers stand-up comedians, entertainers and plays. The Theatre Royal stages classical and modern theatre, musicals and opera, and there's also the New Venture Theatre, a non-profit organisation with a fine local reputation. Add to this a great variety of nearby cinemas, both multiplex and independent, and a nightlife with a real claim to being the liveliest in the country, and you're all set! And remember, if all that doesn't satisfy your thirst for culture, London is only a short train ride away.
